In reality, though, the man was a different deceased individual, and he had been dressed in Mr. Marquez’s clothing in a horrible mix-up. Obviously, the family did not feel as though anything like that were realistic, and they were very distraught.
Even still, when the family finally was able to see the body of Marquez, they were shocked to discover the disrepair the body was found in; fluids were coming out of the body’s nose, ears, and eyes, causing unimaginable grief for the family.
Apparently, La Paz Funeral Home has a history of problems like this in the Phoenix area, as they have been cited before for failing to meet basic health and safety standards, and former workers have come out to file complaints and argue mistreatment, unhealthy and unsanitary working conditions, and a host of other problems related to caring for bodies and dealing with funeral home preparations improperly and disgustingly.
No word yet if the Marquez family has retained a funeral home lawyer, but it would be a good idea and would serve them well should they wish to pursue charges and create problems due to their unimaginably bad experience with the funeral home.
